18th - 19th November 2017
Kathmandu, Nepal
17th July 2017
BNKS MUN
Model UN began as a series of student-led Model League of Nations simulations. It is believed that the first Model League of Nations conferences were held in the 1920s, before transitioning to Model UN after the formation of the League's successor organization, the United Nations, in 1945. The first Model United Nations was held at St. Lawrence University from February 11–13, 1949. It was initiated by Dr. Harry Reiff, Head of the History and Government Department, with the assistance of departmental colleague Otto L. George.
As for Nepal, the first MUN was initiated by the DADC club of Budhanilkantha School about two decades ago with the aim of establishing an educational simulation and academic activity in which students can learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. The first BNKS MUN involved participants from different schools around the country, which aided to convey the importance and expression of the meetings of the United Nations itself. Later, the DADC club organized several more MUN programs entirely designed for the students of Budhanilkantha School.
However in course of time, the club focused its eyes on several other activities which gradually suppressed the conduction of MUN in the school. And now, nearly two decades later, we 8000D Batch have come with the objective to reintroduce MUN in Budhanilkantha School with more zeal and thrive under the banner of Awareness Club of Budhanilkantha School. Many months of careful planning, collective hard work and constant determination has led us here, to a path home to old leaves, nevertheless giving us a chance to imprint a new mark on the road bander the. With utmost sincerity and every drop of sweat spend on this quest, we embark forward to teach and learn leadership through discussions and debate.
Our Aim
Throughout the event students step into the shoes of ambassadors from U.N. member states to debate current issues on the organization's vast agenda. Student "delegates" in Model United Nations prepare draft resolutions, plot strategy, negotiate with supporters and adversaries, resolve conflicts, and intensely navigate the United Nations rule of procedures, as applied in the respective United Nations bodies, all in the interest of mobilizing "international cooperation" to resolve problems that affect almost every country in the world. This assists in building their leadership qualities as well as their interpersonal skills in addition to critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities.

Delegate Fees
We have tried our best to set a very reasonable and affordable price for our delegates, yet at the same time have not compromised the quality of our event.
Each and every delegate has to pay a sum of Rs. 2000 for the event.
The price is affordable yet we do not want to deprive the financially incapable students to miss this wonderful opportunity. So, we have a provision of substantial need based financial aid. For the aid please contact us and we will get to you soon.
